Just for fun. Watermaal-Bosvoorde, 2022. Digital painting

In Spanish, we still use the expression “dar gato por liebre” to mean that we are being tricked. I believe the English equivalent is “to be taken for a ride”.
The origin of the saying goes back to the Middle Ages. It was common to sell hare (liebre) meat when it was actually cat (gato), which was easier to obtain and therefore cheaper.
Nowadays, cats are considered pets in many countries. A hare might dream of being that animal and having better luck.
Hopefully, there will come a day when no animal will have to disguise itself to hide. If anything, they should do it for fun.
